Demopolis

James Donald (Don) McGee, 69, of Demopolis, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at his residence.

Services were held Saturday, May 10, 2003 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Rex Kent officiating.

Burial was held at Demopolis Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors.

Mr. McGee was a native of Arlington, Va. and a resident and business owner in Demopolis for man years.

He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church and a special friend to everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Manie T. McGee of Demopolis; three sons, Donnie (Millie) McGee, Dennis (Marsha) McGee and David (Donna) McGee, all of Demopolis; a sister, Carolyn Vick of Pine Hill; five grandchildren, Emilie McGee, Brooks Mcgee, Andy McGee, Brittany McGee and Brandi McGee, all of Demopolis.

Pallbearers were Gus Agee, J.B. Qualls, James Suttles, Joe Richie, James Carpenter and Buddy Perry.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Hugh Lloyd Sunday School Class, members of the Fraternal Order of Police, all Coffee Club friends, David Leet, Pat Oliver, Steve Smith, Higley Parr, Al Windham and Charles Freeman.

Michael Coleman Whitcomb

Linden

Michael Coleman Whitcomb, 36, of Linden, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Services were held Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Harris, Rev. Wayne Traylor and Rev. Allen Patterson officiating.

Burial was held in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden.

He was born July 21, 1966 in Alabama.

He was a Police Communications Officer with the Alabama Department of Public Safety. He has been involved with law enforcement for the past 17 years having worked with the Marengo County Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Whitcomb was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a member of the Linden Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, J.C. Whitcomb; and maternal grandmother, Ruth Fitzhugh.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Thornton Whitcomb of Linden; a father, Paul Whitcomb of Linden; a mother, Ann Whitcomb of Linden; two daughters, Stephanie Renee Whitcomb and Ashley Brooke Whitcomb, both of Linden; a sister, Paula Renee Whitcomb of Livingston; maternal grandparent, Olie Fitzhugh of Linden; paternal grandparent, Sadie Merle Whitcomb of Linden; father-in-law, Hubert Thornton of Linden; mother-in-law, Hilda Thornton of Linden; brothers-in-law, Rusty Vick of Linden and Larry Adams of Birmingham; sisters-in-law, Teresa Vick of Linden and Celia Adams of Birmingham; aunt and uncle, Sue and Waldon Tucker of Fayette; two cousins, Lance (Amy) Tucker and Luke Tucker, both of Fayette.

Pallbearers were Jason Arledge, Jeff Ford, John Jenkins, Don Gilbert, Keaton Adams, Larry Adams, Rusty Vick and David Ingram.

Honorary pallbearers were the Alabama State Troopers Selma Post and Tuscaloosa Post and the State at Large.

Clara Belle Holliday

Demopolis

Clara Belle Holliday, 99, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at her residence.

Graveside services were held Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown with Rev. Pete Hicks officiating and under the direction of Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors.

She was the oldest long time active member of Uniontown Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hartley H. Holliday, a veteran of World War I.

She is survived by a niece and her devoted primary caregiver, Audrey McLamb of Demopolis; two devoted caretakers, Flora Bryant and Vickie Clayton, both of Demopolis; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were John Harris, sonny Pruett, J.L. Guinn, Billy Dunkin, Roy Calhown, Walt Drake, Deacons of Uniontown Baptist Church, officers and staff of Robertson Banking Company and Southern Care Hospice.
