Valda Marguerite Reed Allen

Valda Marguerite Reed Allen, 93, of Linden, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Mobile Infirmary.

Services were held Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Linden United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Meadows and Rev. Prentis Taylor officiating.

Burial was held at Riverside Cemetary in Demopolis under the direction of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Linden.

She was born April 21, 1910 in Moore’s Valley, Alabama. She was a paralegal, a member of Linden United Methodist Church and the Linden Study Club.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Allen; and a daughter, Ursula (Dollie) Salisbury.

She is survived by a sister, Gertrude R. Shepherd of Mt. Vernon, Ala.; a niece, Elizabeth Schwartz of Great Falls, Va.; cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Barrineau, William Allen, Donnie Barrineau, Jamie Walters, Joe Falls and Bill Barley.

Honorary pallbearers were Tom Boggs, Ren Haynes, Eric Lynch, Carl McMullen, Hiriam Barrineau, Charles Ballas, Paul Holt and Joe Stegall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Linden United Methodist Church.

Alberteen Osmer

Uniontown

Alberteen Osmer, 80, of Uniontown, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Walker and Rev. Jim Walters officiating.

Burial will be held in Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown under the direction of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma.

Mrs. Osmer is survived by her husband, John Henry Osmer Jr. of Uniontown; a son, John Calvin Osmer of Uniontown; two daughters, Mary Osmer Howell and Nancy Osmer Anderson, both of Uniontown; two sisters, Bessie Frith Slawson of Swainsboro, Ga. And the late Doris Frith Yelverton; two brothers-in-law, J.W. Slawson of Swainsboro, Ga. and Troy Yelverton of Angleton, Tx.; a sister-in-law, the late Norma Frith of Selma; five grandchildren, Greg Howell of Dothan, Michelle Anderson of Demopolis, and Caitlin Osmer, Kimberly Osmer and Holley Osmer, all of Greensboro; three great-grandchildren, Zachery Anderson of Demopolis, and William Howell and Matthew Howell, both of Dothan.

Pallbearers are Greg Howell, Roy Calhoun, John Sommers, Wesley Sommers, Tim Osmer and Mike Osmer.
