From children to senior citizens to most every working person in America, cell phones have become a way of life. That why thousands of people from the Demopolis area cried afoul when cellular service didn’t work on Tuesday.

Unicel, one of the leading cell phone service providers in Demopolis, took plenty of phone calls &045;&045; from land lines &045;&045; on Tuesday because of an interruption of service.

It turns out Unicel had very little control over the problem.

According to Jennifer Cave, a spokesperson for Unicel, a farmer in the Troy and Brundidge area cut a line some time Tuesday morning. That line, which actually belongs to BellSouth, crippled cell phone users all over the state and even into Mississippi.

Around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Cave said all cell phone service had been repaired.

The number for Unicel’s customer service is (800) 881-2355.
