A fire in the trailer end of a truck happened at the Parr Chevron Station on Highway 80 Sunday.

Assistant Fire Chief Joe Morgan, spokesman for the Demopolis Fire Department, said that there was coal in the back of an 18-wheeler truck, coal, which "probably hadn’t been cooled."

The truck belonged to the Massey Hauling Company, a company in the Birmingham area, said Morgan.

Morgan said the fire began at 8:55 p.m. and that it took approximately 45 minutes to put the fire out with at least 10 men showing up to put out the fire.

Morgan said there was only one man driving the truck, and no injuries occurred during the fire, and that they moved the 18-wheeler truck to an isolated location as they put the fire out.
