A Texas man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning in York, Alabama.

Marcus Dwayne Edwards, 26, of Dallas, Texas was killed, according to information from the Alabama Department of Public Safety. He was driving an 18-wheeler, which collided with a 1985 Jeep Cherokee on Interstate 59/20 at the six-mile marker, one mile west of York.

Edwards was dead at the scene.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:10 a.m. Thursday.

A female passenger in the 18-wheeler, Volanda Woods, 29, also of Dallas, Texas, was injured and taken to Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Miss. According to officials of Rush on Friday, Woods has already been released.

None of the passengers in the Jeep were injured, said Sumter County Sheriff Johnny Lee Hatter.
