In Demopolis if you have a problem that is golf related, then Rex Bible is the answer. And when the challenge of having more youth golf involvement in Demopolis was presented to him, Bible responded.

He has dealt with it all-including throat cancer and life on the PGA and Senior Tours- and has overcome it all as well. And when it comes to golf, it doesn’t matter what color, age or handicap a person is, Bible is willing to help.

Despite being the owner / operator, starter, ranger, and golf course superintendent at the Ravine Public Golf Course, Bible is also the only golf professional on the course. “I’m a jack of all trades and a master of none of them,” Bible said.

And along with his many other daily duties, he also must somehow find time to give lessons and teach others the game that he so dearly loves. And he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I love my job. There is nothing else in this world that I would rather be doing and no other place that I would rather be doing it at,” Bible said.

Despite what many think about the 66-year-old workaholic, he has no problems with teaching kids the game of golf. In fact he currently has plans in the making for a pub-links youth golf camp for this coming summer. Where he plans to have free lessons for kids of every age group and every background.

“I would like to see this be something for those kids that don’t know much about the game of golf and have never really had the opportunity to play the game,” Bible said.

But like everything else on his golf course, he knows that putting it together will not be an easy task and will require Bible to come out of pocket for the expense.

“Despite being a sport, golf is still a business and running a business requires money and many people just don’t understand that.

But this is something that I will do for free,” Bible said.

But for now Bible will continue to deal with the many leaking water drains throughout the course and patches of poiana spiking up around the greens. It’s a challenge, but he has proven over the years that he likes a good challenge.
