It comes down to just one game for the 3-2 Class 4A Area 8 Demopolis High School varsity girl’s basketball team. With a win over the 4-1 Livingston High Lady Cougars tonight in Demopolis, the Lady Tigers will have a chance to become area champions and more importantly gain a much-needed home court advantage for the area tournament, which is set to begin February 12.

Lady Tigers head coach Tony Pittman says that tonight’s game is one that is a must win situation. “In every season you have a few games that are considered to be the one’s that you feel are a must win game. And for us this game with Livingston tonight is one of those type of games,” Pittman said.

When these two teams come together on the court as they did just one week ago in Livingston, there is plenty of action with both teams showing a type of behavior that is highly aggressive.

Both teams know how to get after it on the court and come tonight fans should see both teams at their best.

The Lady Cougars were able to barely squeeze by a virus infected Lady Tigers team in their last meeting, but lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place.

“We had a couple of girls that had to play sick. And by games end they were tired, but we still managed to play them pretty close and stay within striking distance. We just didn’t have enough in us by games end to strike,” Pittman said.

The Lady Tigers were sitting pretty at the beginning of the week with an (2-1) area record and a chance to win the area out right. The Lady Tigers looked good in their Monday night game against Greensboro knocking off the Lady Raiders 46-31, but after playing three games back-to-back-to-back the Lady Tigers loss a step in the race and fell 42-36 Wednesday night to Greene County. That dropped the Lady Tigers from an impressive (3-1) area record to a (3-2) record, which leaves them tied with Livingston if they should win tonight.

And tonight the Lady Tigers want to finally see things change.

The Lady Tigers have never hosted an area tournament and are quite tired of traveling each year to distant lands battling their way up the ladder, so tonight they plan to leave it all out on the court.
