LIVINGSTON, AL- West Alabama took full advantage of 13 hits, including a 3-for-4 performance from senior A. J. Ray, en route to winning a 16-5 decision over Auburn-Montgomery (7-2) on Wednesday afternoon. Ray finished the game with a double, four runs scored, one RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

The Tigers wasted little time building the lead, plating three runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the bottom of the third to take an early 6-1 lead. AUM cut the lead to 6-4 in the top of the fourth, only to see UWA score 10 unanswered runs over the next four innings on its way to victory.

Brandon Boles collected three hits, including a double and three runs scored in his first game as the leadoff hitter for UWA. Dustin Roberts continued to swing a hot bat, going 1-for-4 with a three-run round tripper, while Jason Floyes went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Scott Needs and Stephen Waggener contributed one hit and two RBI apiece for West Alabama.

Shane Martin got the start and lasted 4.1 innings and allowed four runs, all earned, on six hits en route to earning a no decision. Lee Boyd (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Martin, going 2.2 hitless innings.

Jeremy Lively led the Senator attack with three hits, including a double and one RBI. Cody Morrow and Ryan Wilson chipped in with a pair of RBI apiece for AUM. Matt Bunn (1-1) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on seven hits in three innings of work.

The Tigers move to 6-5 overall and return to action on Saturday when they face off with Mars Hill in a doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Tartt Field.
