With windy conditions much like that of a British Open at St. Andrews, the Demopolis High Tigers golf team outscored the Dallas County Hornets 179-216 for their first win of the 2004 season.

The Tigers had gotten off to a rough start this season losing their first two matches in a tri match last week with the Bibb County Choctaws and the West Blocton Tigers, but found the windy Scottish conditions to favor their style of play Tuesday against Dallas County.

The Tigers finished the day with four out of five players shooting in the 40’s. Chris Hill came away from Tuesday’s match shooting a 49; Tyler Cook shot a 45, Heather Daniels 43 and Zachary Daniels ended his day with a low score of 42.

“It was a good day for us,” DHS head coach Michael Black said. “We are starting to see some players really come around.” With the win the Tigers improve to 1-2 on the season and will travel to Oakmulgee Public Golf Course on Thursday to tee it up once more against Dallas County.
