The Demopolis High School Softball Booster Club held an open house Tuesday night to mark the end to all the hard work and the beginning of a new era in girls softball.

It’s raining, its cold, there were no lights, virtually NO PLACE TO PRACTICE! Thus the idea for indoor batting cages was born.

Kim LeCroy, president of the softball booster club, along with various other parents and concerned supporters set out to raise money to build this new facility. There were many different fundraising events that were held throughout the year.

Some of those include Boston butt cookings, riffle raffles, and the softball team working the concession stands at The University of Alabama basketball and baseball games. Another method the booster club found in order to raise money for the new indoor batting facility was offering different sponsorship levels to the booster club.

Those levels range from an individual sponsorship for $20 to a corporate sponsorship for $500.

This state of the art, 30′ X 60′ building consists of two batting cages with 12′ X 55′ nets. One side has a pitching machine while the other allows the girls to practice pitching to the batters. After lots of HARD work, much sweat, and almost tears (at times), the building is finally finished!
