Tomorrow’s Major Leaguers were out in great numbers at Saturday’s Demopolis Dixie Youth Baseball League Opening Day. Twenty-five teams and over 250 ball players lined the infield to the New Era field Saturday morning at the Demopolis Sports Plex in their colorful new uniforms to celebrate an old baseball tradition that many of them may not be old enough to understand, but all learn to appreciate and love as much as the game itself. Demopolis Mayor Austin Caldwell through out Saturday’s first pitch to officially kick off the season, and then came the immortal words of baseball, “Play Ball.”
