The Demopolis High golf team continued their quest for being the first DHS golf team to ever qualify for the AHSAA state championship, as they knock off 5A Brookwood High School Thursday by a final score of 164- 193.

The Tigers played The Capstone Golf Course on the campus of the University of Alabama like it was their home course, posting two rounds under 40 through the nine-hole event.

Chris Hill led the way for the tigers as he collected an impressive round of 38. Zack Daniels was also in the thirties, as he posted a round of 39. Tripp Giles posted a 42, while Heather Daniels came in at 45 and Tyler Cook rounded out the Tigers scoring with a 49.

The Tigers (8-10) have qualified to play in the Class 4A sectionals on April 29, which will decide which 4A teams will go to the state finals. The sectional round will take place on April 29, at Lagoon Park Golf Course.

But first, the Tigers must prepare for a re-match with West Blocton High School this Tuesday, when the red and white Tigers come to Demopolis for one of the DHS Tigers’ regular season final matches.
