Grove Hill – The Demopolis High Lady Tigers managed their second consecutive shut out Monday night as they defeated Clarke County 7-0. Senior pitcher Lauren Roark (10-6) along with junior pitcher Brandi McGee combined for a total of 9K’s against the Lady Bulldogs, while giving up no runs on four hits and walking two.

The DHS offensive attack started in the second inning when Kristin Etheridge singled and was quickly moved around the bases on a single by Brittany Thorne. Etheridge then scored on a hit by Heather Wright to make it a 1-0 game.

Demopolis would then go on to manufacture five runs in the top of the third inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Consecutive singles by Roark and Katie Simmons started the inning and would be followed with RBI singles by both Etheridge and Chancelor to make it a 3-0 game. Molly Barnes then reached on an error that scored a run and Heather Wright picked up her second RBI of the day with a single shot that would extend the Lady Tigers lead to 6-0.

The final run of the day came after a Lauren Roark single. Dorothy Knapp entered the game to run for the pitcher and quickly took second base. Knapp would then take third and home on passed balls.

McGee entered the game in the bottom of the seventh allowing one hit and one walk before striking out the final batter to seal the win.

While the JV travels to Hale County (3:30) on Thursday, the Varsity will return to action on Friday at home against Dallas County (4:30).
