In front of an audience of approximately 40 guests, scout leaders, and Boy Scouts, John Cox Webb V and Jimmy Spencer unveiled the brand new pavilion at the White Bluff Scout Reservation Sunday, April 18.

The new 32′ X 40′ pavilion was named in honor of Webb, who earned his Eagle Scout rank with Troop 41, Demopolis, in 1982. The Webb Foundation put up the original seed money $2,500 for the construction, with additional funding coming from McAbbe Construction.

Attending the dedication with Webb were his father, John Cox Webb IV, and aunt, Angie Webb, of Birmingham. Robert Kirk, Prairie District Executive with the Black Warrior Council, opened the dedication ceremony, and then turned it over to Prairie District Advancement Chairman Sam Fish, who told the history of the pavilion.

The camp site was leased to the Prairie District Boy Scouts by the U.S. Corps of Engineers. Through the efforts of BSA district executives and adult volunteers, money was raised and plans for the pavilion drawn up, Fish said.

Before unveiling the pavilion, Webb told the crowd about the positive impact Scouting had had on his life.

The Webb foundation is honored to be a part, even in a small way, of the pavilion, the honoree told the group. He encouraged all the Scouts attending to take advantage of the experiences Boy Scouts provides.

“Scouting has meant so much to me,” said the former Demopolis Troop 41 member.
