9&10-year olds

Dowdle Dodger 17, Anderson Yankees 13

On April 16, the Dowdle Dodgers defeated the Anderson Yankees 17-13 behind the pitching of Louis Steudeman, Thomas Cramer and Devin Burrell.

Burrell and Cramer also led the Dodgers at the plate as both picked up three hits apiece. Jack Kerby followed with two hits, while Steudeman, Porter Rainer, Steven Foster and Brooks Brame each collected one hit apiece.

William Stewart led the way for the Yankees with two hits, while Wesley Anderson, Pierre Thomas, Jake Freeman and William Duckett each had one hit apiece.

Anderson Yankees 7, Windham Marlins 5

On April 20, the Yankees returned to action, picking up a close 7-5 win against the Windham Marlins. Wesley Anderson led the Yankees at the plate and on the mound as he collected three hits and went four innings to pick up the win.

Following Anderson was William Stewart and Pierre Thomas with two hits apiece and William Duckett with one hit. Cameron Wells, Kaleb Farmer, Will Tucker, Matthew Davis and Jamarcus Alvis each collected one hit apiece for the Marlins.

11&12-year olds

Keen Chiropractic 6, Traeger’s 5

On April 17, the Cardinals of Keen Chiropractic defeated the Traeger’s Braves 6-5 in extra innings. The Braves came from behind in the fifth inning to tie it up at 5-5, but the Cardinals would end it in the seventh inning with a hard line-drive to deep center field by Anthony Hardy to get the win.

Larry Dunn, Curtis Lovejoy and Cameron Fendley were the wining pitchers for the Cardinals.

Commercial Bank 14, Keen Chiropractic 2

On April 19, the Commercial Bank Cubs, led by pitcher Bill Holeman, easily defeated the Cardinals of Keen Chiropractic 14-2.

Wallace Wood

The Wallace Wood Tigers (1-2) handed the Mason&Gardner Mets (4-1) their first loss of the season and picked up their first win of the season behind the strong pitching of Chase Cameron.

Cameron went five innings earning 9K’s, while giving up five hits with no walks. Ben McCarter saw his first action of the year on the mound when he came in for relief in the sixth inning to collect 2K’s against the first two batters he faced and getting the third batter to ground out to second for the win.

The Tigers put on a bunting clinic to generate most of their offense and counter the dominating pitching of Mets’ ace pitcher, Johnny Gardner. The tigers put down five bunts on 15 attempts to either advance runners or score runners each time.

Chris Adams led the way for the Tigers at the plate going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Matthew Sellers led the team in RBIs with a one-run single in the second inning and a sacrifice bunt in the fourth inning that scored two runs.

“Winning is wonderful, but when you see kids start to understand what it means to be selfless, willing to make sacrifices and pull together as a team, then as a coach you know you have accomplished something meaningful and lasting,” Tigers head coach Brian Sellers said.
