Demopolis 4, Tuscaloosa County 2

After surrendering a first inning home run, Kelly Keasler (8-3) allowed just two hits over the final six-and-two-thirds innings of play in Tuesday’s match-up with the 6A Tuscaloosa County Lady Wildcats to earn Demopolis its 19th win of the season.

The Tiger bats came alive in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-2 lead as Dorothy Knapp started the frame with a double. Brittany McGee then walked and both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch.

Knapp was then able to score as senior Lauren Roark reached first on an infield chopper. Katie Simmons then grounded to short for an out, but the play allowed McGee to score from third and Roark moved to second. A ground out by Kristin Etheridge then put Roark on third. Roark would then score on a single by Brittany Thorne.

The Demopolis attack would add one final run in the second inning to secure their victory when Dorothy Knapp hit a two-out double and would score on a single by McGee.

Keasler was again dominating on the mound as she collected 11K’s against the Wildcats and allowed just two base runners after the first inning of play.

With the win the Lady Tigers improve their record to 19-9 on the season as they prepare for a much-needed win on Friday when the Dallas County Lady Hornets come to town.

The JV will travel to play at Hale County on Thursday at 3:30. Demopolis (19-9) will host Dallas County on Friday at 4:30, and will also be at home against Bibb County on Wednesday, April 28, for the last game of the regular season. Start time is at 6:00 p.m.
