Two Greensboro men were arrested this week for the alleged rapes of two juveniles.

Christopher Charles Miller, 30, of Ward Street, was arrested and charged with rape, first degree. The February incident involves a 12-year-old juvenile, who had also been raped by another man in the same neighborhood.

The victim identified Miller as the rapist, said Greensboro Police Chief Claude Hamilton. The suspect has denied the charges and been cooperative with police. The case continues under investigation.

Another suspect, Sam Leroy King, 40, of 1211 Ward Street, was arrested March 24 on a count of rape, first degree, involving the same victim.

Greensboro Police received a call concerning that incident from the victim’s mother Mary Wilson at approximately 9:59 p.m. on March 24.

King, who police officials described as a friend of the mother, was arrested the same evening.

In addition, Haywood Drummer, 55, of Greensboro, was arrested April 19 by deputies with the Hale County Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with rape, first degree.

The case involves the Feb. 23 rape of a 15-year-old juvenile from the Lock 5 area. No other information was available on this case at press time.

Chief Hamilton expressed concern about the rape incidents in the Greensboro area. Mothers are working because they have to a single-parent home, he said. “They are often dependent on an older child or neighbor to look in on a child.”

The rapist is often a family member or friend of the family, a person the victim knows, Hamilton said.
