LIVINGSTON, AL- Six University of West Alabama baseball players earned All-Gulf South Conference honors on Tuesday for their successful play during the 2004 season. Brandon Boles, Rafael Farrell, Dustin Carter and Clint Chambless were all named to the All-GSC First Team, while Dustin Roberts and Lee Boyd made the Second Team.

Boles, a junior from Kokomo, Ind., set a UWA single-season record with 31 stolen bases and was second on the team with a .389 batting average. Boles, a second baseman, was also named to the 2004 GSC-All Tournament Team. Farrell, a senior from Louin, Miss., played left field for the Tigers and hit .384 on the season. He led the team with 38 walks and tied the team-high with three triples.

Carter, a sophomore from Winfield, Ala., led the Tigers with a .405 batting average and 17 doubles. Carter, who made the All-GSC First Team as a designated hitter, had a .635 slugging percentage on the season. Chambless, a junior from Livingston, Ala., tied the UWA single-season record with eight saves in 2004. He appeared in 18 games for West Alabama and had an ERA of 2.04, which was the lowest on the Tiger pitching staff.

Roberts, a sophomore from Demopolis, Ala., made the All-GSC Second Team as an outfielder after leading the Tigers with 13 homeruns and 55 RBI. He hit .333 with a .639 slugging percentage and was also named to the GSC-All Tournament Team. Lee Boyd, a junior from Columbus, Miss., was also named to the Second Team going 6-1 on the mound for UWA. He tied for the team-high with 23 appearances and earned two saves on the season.

The Tigers went 2-2 in the GSC Tournament and finished the 2004 campaign with a 33-22 record overall.
