To Whom It May Concern:

I am originally from Linden, Alabama and have been keeping track of all the information on the internet concerning the upcoming election for District Attorney. Being reared in the heart of the Black Belt, I know firsthand how race can play a factor in many issues. As a woman of color, I can agree with many other African Americans who want to see ‘one of our own’ hold a position that has been held by others for many, many years solely because of the color of his/her skin. I am guilty of tending to decide on a matter solely because a person is African American and is assumed by me to hold my best interest at heart. I am sure that all African Americans were happy to see Mr. Barron Lankster win the District Attorney seat from Mr. Nathan Watkins. It was a refreshing feeling to see one of our own as the District Attorney. I can’t speak for all citizens of Marengo, Sumter, and Greene Counties, but for me those feelings of relief soon turned into feelings of disbelief. It was disheartening to see this man whom we expected to do great things step in AND NOT DO ANYTHING. Judging from the track record that he left after leaving office, he was what we refer to in the military as “ungainfully employed”. He was simply wasting tax payers’ dollars. We cannot allow this to happen again.

I am asking all voters in Marengo, Sumter, and Greene Counties not to let this assumption play a part in who you vote for during the June election.

I must admit that I don’t personally know either of the candidates running for the position. I do believe that Mr. Greg Griggers is the best candidate for the job. Since the gruesome murders of my aunt and cousin, Ida and Mikayla Little, he has proven himself to be a peoples’ candidate. He has worked tirelessly to expedite this case and get justice served. He personally calls my family to keep them informed of every minute detail of the case. At the same time, I am constantly reading other news on the internet of other cases that he is doing great things with.

With the economy in the state that it is in today, we cannot afford to have another “ungainfully employed” person sitting around for four years letting cases build up using our tax dollars.

In my opinion, Mr. Griggers has gone above and beyond the call of duty and should be elected the next District Attorney.
