FORKLAND-A fight over gang turf or drugs involved five people in a nightclub parking lot in Greene County on Thursday night. The brawl left two of those people with stab wounds and landed another in jail for first-degree assault.

Around 9 p.m. on Thursday, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department received a call from Forkland asking for assistance with a fight in the Eagle’s Nest nightclub’s parking lot. When the deputies arrived on the scene they found the aftermath of five black males, three brothers and two first cousins fighting with knives in the parking lot that left two of the men injured with stab wounds in the leg and lower back.

Christopher Armstead and Le Arthur Armstead, who are first cousins, were involved in the fight with Mario Spencer, Michael Spencer, and Myrick Spencer, who are brothers. Le Arthur Armstead received a stab wound in the lower back and was transported to Birmingham, were he is currently listed in stable condition.

Myrick Spencer was stabbed in the leg and was taken to Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis were he was later released. Michael Spencer was arrested on scene and charged with first-degree assault. He is still currently in the Greene County Jail as a bond has not been set.

Greene County Sheriff Johnny L Isaac said this was the first major incident they have been involved in since taken over the protection of Forkland citizens back in December. He said the five guys were probably fighting over drugs more so then gang problems.

“We currently have one arrested for assault,” Isaac said, “We are still investigating the incident and future arrests may happen.”
