EUTAW-After a week of wondering whether or not the Warrior Academy Board of Directors were going to close the school, merge with West Alabama Prep, kept the school open, or maybe even change it to a Christian School, they finally made a choice.

On Thursday night at Warrior Academy, the Board of Directors along with concerned parents held their second meeting dealing with the fate of the academy. Last week, during a very similar meeting the board issued three different alternatives concerning the future of the academy.

First, they could enter into the next school year with a $150,000 deficit and hope that something good might happen. Second, they could cut the school in half by sending the upper 6 grades to West Alabama Prep in Demopolis. Or finally, the school could be closed.

Danny Cooper, one of the board members who attended the meeting said the board and the group of parents after hearing from various speakers decided to vote for keeping the doors open.

“The school will continue to serve children in grades K-12,” Cooper said.

Also discussed during the meeting last week was the idea of changing Warrior Academy into a Christian School. Cooper said the decision to change the academy into a Christian School would be something that he board and the parents would look at further.

“The decision to change into a Christian School was not made last night, but will be made at a later date,” Cooper said.
