DEMOPOLIS – Sawyerville resident Chad Chapman double eagled the par 5 eighth hole at The Ravine Golf Course Saturday when he one-hopped a 210-yard six iron into the cup for a crowd pleasing 2.

At the eighth, the 27-year old Chapman, playing from the blue tees, crushed his Tee-shot 275-yards, leaving a 210-yard approach from the fairway. Chapman then drew a six iron from his bag and watched in amazement as the ball one-hopped the green and land in the cup for the first double eagle ever recorded at the par 5 eighth.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Chapman said. “One of my partners said that it looked like the ball was headed right for the hole. And when I saw it fall into the cup, I about passed out.” Chapman, who had previously played 18 holes Saturday with an old set of Taylor Made irons, purchased a brand new set of Nike irons from the Ravine Pro Shop before beginning a second round at the Demopolis course.
