American Legion picks up two more

The American Legion West Alabama post 29 senior team traveled to Centerville Tuesday night where they picked up two more victories to bring their overall record to 16-4.

In game one of the doubleheader, Matt Chambliss led West Alabama on the hill earning 2K’s, while giving up 2 runs on 5 hits (none earned) with three walks through seven complete innings, as West Alabama won 5-2.

At the plate it was Greensboro’s Matt Busbee leading the way scoring one run with a double. Seth Basinger, Clint Moody and G. W. Washington each picked a hit apiece, while Basinger, Moody, William Meador and Kevin May each scored one run apiece.

In game two it was Bart Butler picking up the 18-1 win through four innings of work. Butler allowed 2 hits and 2 walks, while earning 2K’s.

At the plate it was Devin Goodwin leading the way with two doubles, a single and two runs scored. Basinger followed with a double, a single and scoring two runs. Busbee collected two singles and scored two runs. Moody collected a single and scored four runs, while Meador, Jack Hazelrig, Chad Schroeder, Hunter Hawley each added a single and scored one run apiece.

West Alabama will play today in a Tuscaloosa tournament at Central High School. Game times for West Alabama are at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
