Demopolis Dixie Boys All-Star pitcher Scott “Scoot” Cannon bombed his fastball into North Clark defenses Tuesday night collecting a total of 8K’s through a six complete inning shutout, as Demopolis defeats the North Clarke All-Stars 9-0 to win the 14-year old Sub-District Tournament.

After dropping a 15-3 decision Monday night against North Clarke, Demopolis didn’t bother getting made they just got even.

Demopolis All-Star Joseph Reed started his Fourth of July fireworks show a little early this year, as he sent two back-to-back two -run bombs over the right field fence in the first and second innings to give Demopolis the early 5-0 lead.

But it was Cannon who would light up the dark cloudy skies above with his performance on the hill Tuesday. The right-hander was in full control Tuesday night as he set down the first six batters he faced in order leaving North Clarke searching for cover.

Though he would eventually give up a hit in the third inning along with his first walk to put runners in scoring position, Cannon showed no mercy on North Clarke and would then go on to get out of the inning when he got Chad Dickenson to ground out for the third out.

North Clarke would find another hit in the fourth and manage to place runners in scoring position again, but Cannon would strike down any chances of a run by taking down the next three batters he faced.

Cannon would finish the game earning 8K’s, while giving up no runs on two hits with two walks. At the plate it was Reed leading the way going 3-for-4 with two homers, while Cannon would follow going 3-for-4 with three singles.

With the win the Demopolis 14-year old All-Stars move on to the Dixie Boys District 4 Tournament in Selma Thursday night.
