LIVINGSTON-The Redistricting plan for the City of Livingston’s 2004 up-coming elections has been officially approved by the U.S. Justice Department. Livingston Mayor Tom Tartt announced this during the last Livingston City Council on Monday.

The council sent out bids for a new work truck for the Street Department for mosquito spraying and they received one bid in return. City Administrator Joe Chance requested that the old 1990 pickup truck be repaired and then used for other duties.

He also requested that the council approve the emergency purchase of a new 2004 V-6 pickup truck for $13,000 from Interstate Ford. The council approved the request and the new truck was on the road Tuesday spraying for mosquitoes.

Tartt requested the council adopt a resolution proclaiming that July 4, 2004 be known as a day to celebrate a reunion of heroes in honor of all the men and women that have served over seas and those who continue to serve overseas.

The City of Livingston’s annual 4th of July firework show will be on Saturday, July 3rd at Lake LU, he said. Entertainment will begin at 8 p.m. and the firework show will start around 9 p.m.

Nelson R. Hughes was presented with a League of Municipalities award for his over 20 years of service to the community of Livingston. Hughes has served on the council as well as many other city boards over the past 20 years.

A short executive session was held prior to the meeting, but nothing was handled.
