DEMOPOLIS-The First Presbyterian Church of Demopolis is in the process of holding its annual Vacation Bible School for the children of the City of Demopolis this week.

Reverend Tommy Carr said the church has been holding a VBS for longer than he can remember and it has always been a part of the church’s vision. This year especially because the church has teamed up with some other local churches and we have a very good racial mix attending right now.

The director of the VBS Nancy Tyson said this year’s theme is ‘Mission: Possible.” The VBS consists of morning skits and songs, and then the children break into their different groups and do events, such as arts&crafts, games, group discussions and many other wonderful things.

“It’s wonderful to see the children playing and enjoying the message that is being shared to them everyday by our staff,” Tyson said.

The day starts off when the children arrive at 9 a.m. and there is a skit and songs. The children then break into their different groups based on their current grade and work on the different activities.

“I would like to thank all the wonderful volunteers for helping to make the program a successful one,” Tyson said.

Carr said this has been one of the best VBS sessions at the church. Tyson has done a wonderful job of getting everything prepared and making sure the children have fun.

“My favorite part is the skit in the morning because the staff members like Rocky Gardner, Bryan Yeager, Nicholas Symon, and Roseanne Fish do a wonderful job of entertaining the children and getting them excited about the day’s events,” Carr said.
