Dear Editor:

I would like to thank all of the many businesses and citizens for helping with the 2004 Summer Reading Program, Step to the Beat – Read!

Some of the many who donated their time or resources are Maria Brooker, Colony Office Products, Demopolis Police Department, the DHS Cheerleaders, Domino’s, Food World, Friends of the Library, Gardner Hardware, Paul Garner, Tia Lawrence, Jan McDonald, The Old Fellows with Nina Pruitt, Parr’s Chevron, Carl Poellnitz, and Wal-mart.

This year over 300 children participated in the reading program.

These kids read almost 3,500 books during June and July.

Almost 1,000 children attended programs at the library.

These programs included crafts, sing-a-longs, dance-a-thons, games, and more.

Of course, when the kids participate, parents also visit the library.

During the months of June and July, our total circulation of books was over 13,400.

We are very proud to offer this program to the community.

We couldn’t provide this level of service to our patrons without help.

Thanks again for supporting our efforts to encourage life-long learning in Demopolis.

Sincerely,

Lindsy Gardner
