Funeral for Henry Benjamin Phillips, 71, of Newbern, will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at Hobson Bethel United Methodist Church in Newbern. Burial will follow in Newbern Cemetery. The Rev. James L. Waters Jr. will officiate.

Mr. Phillips, who died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at DCH Regional Medical Center, was born Feb. 10, 1933 in Forkland to Uriah and Eula Lee Reynolds Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joyce S. Phillips.

He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Phillips Taylor of Port St. Joe, Fla., Donna Phillips Averette of Tuscaloosa and Lynn Phillips Milner of Newbern; a son, Henry Benjamin Phillips; a sister, Delores Dryden of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Uriah Phillips Jr. of Louisiana and David Phillips of Tuscaloosa; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Sam Taylor, Tim Averette, Mickey Milner, Matthew Taylor, Adam Taylor, Michael Church and Mason Milner.

Kirk Funeral Homes of Greensboro is directing.

Ruby Lee Carr

Newbern

Funeral for Ruby Lee Carr of Newbern will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at the Reynolds Chapel Church in Newbern. The Rev. H. McGee will officiate. Burial will follow at the Carr Family Cemetery. The body will be at the church from noon until service time.

Mrs. Carr died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at her home.
