Demopolis

Memorial services for Retired U.S.C.G. Capt. William J. “Bill” Rogers, 80, of Demopolis will be at 7 p.m. at Demopolis Country Club Friday, Aug. 20, 2004. Friends will give the eulogy.

Mr. Rogers died Aug. 1, 2004 at BMC-Princeton in Birmingham after a short illness.

Survivors include his special friends, Patti L. Harley, Pat A. Bentley and Dennis A. Lovell and others he had befriended throughout his travels on the waterways and golf courses throughout the United States.

Mr. Rogers, a resident of Demopolis for 15 years, had a full and active life to include serving in the United States Air Force during WWII and the Korean Conflict where he received several medals such as the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. Mr. Rogers received his bachelor’s degree after his military service and retired from G.E. after more than 20 years of service. He had achieved the U.S. Coast Guard Masters Captain License in 1988, was a dive instructor and had held many offices in the local scuba coast auxiliary. Mr. Rogers enjoyed golfing with his friends at Demopolis Country Club. He lived on a succession of boats to include his Meridian Trawler until the time of his death. He was a lifetime member of the NRA where he received a legion of honor certificate.

Brady Allen Patterson

Gallion

The Rev. Brady Allen Patterson, 49, of Gallion, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 in Birmingham.

He was born Friday, Feb. 4, 1955 in Chilton County, to Curtis and Kathleen Smith Patterson.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Patterson of Gallion; a son, Joey Patterson of Fort Smith, Ark.; two daughters, Jaclyn Johnson of Montevallo and Katie Patterson of Gallion; two brothers, the Rev. Larry Patterson of Robertsdale and Steve Patterson of Briarfield; a sister, Kathy Childress of Thorsby; and three grandchildren, Wade Crawford, Dakota Johnson and Kaitlyn Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends were received at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Services were held at Providence Baptist Church in Gallion Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Randal Mims and Bobby Hopper officiating.

Graveside service and burial followed in the Pates Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Thorsby.

Martin Funeral Home in Clanton was in charge of arrangements.
