Jesse Shelton, 91, a resident of Moundville Health and Rehab formerly of Coatapa, passed on Sept. 10, 2004 in Moundville. Graveside services were held Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Dugg Hill Cemetery in Coatopa. The Rev. Robert Pearce, Jr. officiated.

McInnis Mortuary of Livingston, was entrusted with all arrangements.

Louise Willis Hammond

Faunsdale

Louise Willis Hammond, 90 of Faunsdale, passed on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services were held on Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Randal Mims officiated.

Burial followed in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Faunsdale. Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home in Demopolis was entrusted with all arrangements. Pallbearers were Allen Hammond, Terry Hammond, Mark Mayo, Mark Etheridge, Tommy Willis, and Mike Willis. Visitations were held on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 at Kidd Robbins Chapel from 3-5 p.m.

Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her husband, the late Mr. Charles Wayne Hammond. She leaves to cherish her most precious memories one daughter, Carolyn H. (Alan) of Tuscaloosa, one son Donald W. (Barbara) Hammond of Faunsdale, one sister, Carrie W. Johnson of Birmingham, one brother, Jimmie (Kathleen) Willis of LaGrange, Ga., six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hammond was a native of Florence, and a resident of Faunsdale, for the past 56 years.

She was a retired teacher and a member of Thomaston Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to favorite charity.

Betty Joyce Smith Hill

Marion

Betty Joyce Smith Hill, 67 of Marion, recently passed at her home on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004.

Funeral services were held at Open Door Faith Baptist Church on Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at 2 p.m. Interment followed in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. The Revs. Gervis Smith, Kirk Smith, and Thomas Fondren officiated the ceremony.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel.

Pallbearers were Ernest Barton, Wayne Stone, Roy Averette, John Tucker, Mark Crocker, Mickey Coley, Bert Crocker, and Brian Duke. Honorary pallbearers were members of Open Door Faith Baptist Church, Dr. Clyde Cox, Montgomery Cancer Clinic in Selma, Cahaba Hospice, Frank Mitchell, Lance Harless, Randall Clements, and Scott Wallace. She leaves to cherish her memories, a husband, Thomas C. Hill of Marion, one daughter, Cindy H. (Bill) Hopper of Marietta, Ga., five sons, Keith (Kathy) Hill of Meridian, Miss., Craig Hill of Marion, Roger (Dana) Hill of Gadsden, William (Traci) Hill of Helena, and Adam Hill of Montgomery, four sisters, Marjorie (Don) Canham of Medina, N.Y., Mildred (Joe) Davenport-Cohen of Albany, Ga., Eloise Glass of Savannah, Ga., and Jackie (Bob) Winter of Harlem, Ga., five brothers, Curby Lee (Ann) Smith of Augusta, Ga., Wilford (Hazel) Smith of Alpharette, Ga., Charlie (Catherine) Smith of Laurel, Md., Cecil (Sharon) Smith of Sun City, Calif., and Billy (Vicki) Smith of Grovetown, Ga., seven grandchildren, Bryan and Erika Hill of Fort Wayne, Ind., Ben and Courtney Hopper of Marietta, Ga., Zack Hill of Newbern, Ariel Hill of Marion, and Jacob Leggett of Starksville, Miss.
