Kendry Paige Washington, age 19 of Greensboro, AL passed on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 in Sawyerville, AL.

Funereal services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 12:00 Noon at Mars Hill Baptist Church, Greensboro, AL. with Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Society Cemetery, Greensboro, AL.

The body will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon.

Washington&Paige Mortuary is in charge of all arrangements.

George Howard Payne, Jr

George Howard Payne, Jr., “Big Daddy,” a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at DCH Regional Medical Center on October 13, 2004.

He was 67 years old.

He was active in his community, and resided on the Hale County Board of Education for 18 years.

He was retired from the Golden Flake Chip Company.

He is preceded in death by a son, Dennis Gordan Payne, his father, George Howard Payne, Sr., his mother, Lillie Stone Payne, and a brother, James Edward Payne.

He is survived by his wife, Marjolena F. Payne of Akron, a son, Keith Payne (Vicky) of Akron, daughters, Shonna Woods (Thomas) of Akron, Georgette Johnson (Dennis) of Akron, and five grandchildren, Todd and Chad Payne, Brooke and Tommy Woods, and Kyle Johnson all of Akron.

He is also survived by a brother Ernest Payne (Blanche) of Tuscaloosa.

He was a member of Akron Baptist Church and resided in Akron, AL with his wife for 38 years.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Payne, Gary McCaleb, Bryon Kelly, Bruce Payne, Ralph Brown, and Mac Brown.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Larry Skelton and staff, doctors and staff of DCH Cancer Center, friends and family of Akron community and Hale County.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2004at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel.

Graveside services will be at Concord Cemetery on October 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m.

Rev. Brian Allen will preside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to your favorite charity or Akron Baptist Church, Mike Compton, 25 Cedarwood Road, Moundville, AL 35474.

Margaret Elizabeth Bobo Sayers

Demopolis

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Sayers, 89, of Demopolis were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Demopolis, with Dr. Rex Kent and Eddie Pickle officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis. The family received friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time in the Prayer Room at the church.

Mrs. Sayers died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at The Willows in Demopolis. Survivors include her husband, Samuel M. Sayers of Demopolis, and a brother, William W. Bobo and his wife, Bobbie, of Fayette.

Pallbearers were the T.E.L. Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Demopolis.

Mrs. Sayers was a native of Jefferson County and a resident of Demopolis for the past 68 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Demopolis, a graduate of Howard College and member of the Chautaugua Club. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Bobo Sayers; her parents, Dr. A.H. Bobo, MD, and May Walker Bobo; and a brother, Arlington H. Bobo Jr.
