Sumter Academy PeeWee team ends season undefeated

On Monday, October 5, the Marengo Tiny Mites and Pee-Wee teams played in the Paper Bowl verses Wilcox Academy. Both teams won their games. The Pee-Wee team had an undefeated season.

In the Tiny Mites game, there was no scoring in the first half, but late in the second half the Longhorns intercepted a pass that led to the only touchdown.

After the interception, quarterback Justin Beverly scored on a six yard run. Fullback Masa Rogers ran in the point after touchdown (PAT). That was all the Longhorns needed to take the trophy.

In the Pee-Wee game, the Longhorns took first possession. With 4:12 left in the first quarter,

quarterback Matt Wallace handed off to Chase Smyly who ran 35 yards for the Longhorns first touchdown. The PAT failed.

After Wilcox went three and out on their first possession, Matt Wallace handed off to Matt Ethridge who took the ball eight yards for their second touchdown. Rabe Hale scored the PAT on a handoff from Matt Wallace. Soon after , Matt Ethridge scored again on a six yard run. Kevin Pritchett scored the PAT on a pass from Matt Wallace.

Wilcox had first possession in the second half, but fumbled on the first play. The Longhorns now had the ball on the three yard line and scored on the first play. The PAT was no good, but the score was 28-0 in favor of the Longhorns.

The Longhorns continued to score off of fumbles and an interception. The final touchdown was scored by Hunter Crouch on a 25 yard run. The ending score was 42-0.

During the half time of the Pee-Wee game the Paper Bowl Queens were announced. The Tiny Mite Queen was Sarah Kate Gibbs. The Pee-Wee Queen was Jamie Johnson and the Junior High Queen was Brittny Langley. Congratulations to all the players and the queens and their courts.
