The newest business in the Demopolis area is not only a retail store but also serves the developmentally disabled in Marengo County.

Second Time Around Twice as Nice opened its doors on. October 11 and has been doing great. It is located at 113 E. Washington St. between Young’s Fashion and the Blackbelt gazette.

“This is my first time in the retail aspect of what I do,” said Wade Reese, Program Director. Mr. Reese has been working with the developmentally disabled for 18 years.

The Arc of Fayette and Lamar Counties operate second Time Around. It is a non-profit agency with all proceeds going back to the community. There are two other locations in Alabama located in Fayette and Vernon.

“We are very optimistic and feel that we will be able to help the city to grow especially in the downtown area,” said Reese. ” We anticipate spreading to surrounding counties in order to help more individuals.”

“I am really excited about this opportunity to serve the community,” said Carolyn Jackson, Assistant store manager.

Second Time Around employs three young ladies and one developmentally disabled young man. “I enjoy being here. I think it is a beneficial experience in my growth as a person,” said Gloria Edwards, one of the employees.

Jane Williams not only works in the store, but also works in the homes that are provided for the disabled. “This is a different experience for me, but I am enjoying my work helping others,” said Williams.

“I love knowing that I am helping the community,” said Marilyn Johnson, one of the store employees.

If anyone wishes to help out this venture they can drop off donations during regular business hours. Hours are: Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m-4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Reese does provide tax donation receipts for all donations.
