Henry Lloyd Phares

Funeral services for Henry Lloyd Phares, 73, of Akron will be Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel with Elder Glenn Payne and Elder Bobby Payne officiating. Burial will follow at Five-Mile Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at Kirk Funeral Homes.

Phares died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at DCH in Tuscaloosa. He was 73.

He was a lifelong resident of Hale County, a prominent businessman and well-known logger. He was affectionately known to most as “Paw Paw.”

Phares is survived by his wife, Juanita Phares of Akron; two daughters, Henrietta Redd (Billy) of Foster and Judi Mills (Keith) of Cottondale; two sisters, Linda Martin of Eutaw and Mary Alice Stephens of Eutaw;and three grandchildren, Phares Lloyd Redd of Tuscaloosa, Reba Redd of Mobile and Miranda Parton (Homer) of Madison.

Active pallbearers are Phares Lloyd Redd, Homer Parton, David Nevin, Larry Robinson, Randy Brown and Jessie Cole. Honorary pallbearers are the former employees and associates of Lloyd Phares Logging, the staff of ACCU, Dr. William Hill, Dr. Dirk Berry, Dr. Jeanne Lipscomb, Dr. Pam Hughes, Dr. Shelby Sanford, Dr. Avi Nichani Reid Lawson, employees of Peoples Bank, Howard McCray, Charles Langham and sons, James Boothe, Jessie Cole, Mark Whaley, Ray Melton, Alvin McCrory, Earl and Frances Jones and Kynard’s Logging.
