MMI Basketball Updates

The MMI girls’ varsity basketball team lost to Pickens Academy 54-48 on Tuesday night.

Leading the way for MMI was Felecia Sprott with 15 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 blocks. Yolanda Kelly added 17 points.

Pickens pressure bothered MMI throughout the game, and the week off for Thanksgiving break definitely showed.

With the loss, the girls record moves to 2-1.

The girls’ next game is this afternoon at Marengo Academy, with the JV boys team slated to tip-off at 1:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the MMI varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Pickens Academy 54-50 on Tuesday night.

Leading the way for MMI was Brian Moore with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and seven blocks.

Kendrick Moore added 15 points and Jovaris Smith chipped in with 11 points, six assists, and eight rebounds.

Pickens played tough and shot well from the outside, and at times MMI looked sluggish after a week off for Thanksgiving break.

With the win, the boys record moves to 3-0.

The boys’ next game is at Marengo Academy, with tip-off slated for 1:00 p.m.

On Wednesday night, the MMI men’s community college basketball team defeated the Huntington College JV squad 75-59.

With the win, the men’s record moves to 8-3.

Leading the way for MMI was Eddie Brown with 30 points.

Ken Johnson, a DHS product, chipped in with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
