For Andro Williams, this week’s trip to the Super Six in Birmingham is special for a lot of reasons. It is a milestone for Williams as it is his first trip ever as a player or a coach. But on Friday the game will be even more special as Williams will lead his alma mater onto the field.

Williams, the Bulldog defensive coordinator, was a standout for Sweet Water in the early 90’s and has used all he learned at the old school to direct a ferocious Bulldog defense.

Williams, like the other Bulldog coaches, had always dreamed of coming back to his old school to direct them to a state title berth. When Head Coach Stacy Luker made his return Williams was one of the first people he looked to for help. Naturally, Williams was ready to jump on board.

Williams said he knew the time was right to make a return to Sweet Water when he got the call from Coach Luker.

Williams has not only been able to experience the winning feeling, he has been an integral part of it. Luker said Williams has motivated his team by working just like he played…at full throttle.

Williams said a firm upbringing and the privilege of being under the toot ledge of some fine football coaches led him in the direction he tries to lead his players.

Luker, who served as an assistant at Sweet Water when Williams was a player said he knew Williams would be a valuable asset to his players in more than just football.

Williams agreed saying there was no place he would rather make his first trip than home.

Williams defense has been impenetrable most games this year. They have been a key factor in keeping the Bulldogs in close games. However, Williams, as humble s his reputation, credited the offense for much of his success this season.
