Reports of sodomy at the Eutaw National Guard Armory have been determined to be unfounded by Demopolis Police, Capt. Tim Sorenen said.

A report was filed with Demopolis Police Jan. 11 reporting first-degree sodomy at the Eutaw National Guard Armory and second-degree unlawful imprisonment at the Demopolis National Guard Armory.

However, Sorenen said further investigation revealed the reports to be untrue.

“The reports were made by a third party, and after talking to the victim it was determined nothing occurred in Eutaw,” Sorenen said.

The investigation into allegations of unlawful imprisonment, however, is ongoing.

“Those allegations involve the Demopolis National Guard and we are still looking into that,” he said. No charges have been filed in that case.

Sorenen said the Eutaw Police Department was not contacted regarding the sodomy report that had been filed because of the status of that charge.

“Had we determined something had happened there, we would have contacted the Eutaw Police Department, but because we found no incident had occurred there, we did not contact them,” he said.
