Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with four burglaries that took place in Linden over the weekend, the youngest of which was 13.

“They were all students at the public school here in Linden,” Linden Police Chief Jeff Laduron said. The 13-year-old was from Myrtlewood. Also arrested were a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, both from Linden.

“The 15-year-old was charged with one count of (third-degree) burglary and the other two were each charged with four counts of (third-degree) burglary,” Laduron said.

The burglaries took place over a three-day period, each at a local business.

On Saturday the manager of the Smoke&Chew on South Main Street reported his business had been broken into. A day later, T&D Hair Express reported the same. Monday, Sunshine Cleaners reported a break-in as well. No property was missing from that scene, but a window was broken.

“Officers Dexter Waters and Lashaun Roberts and Sgt. Scott McClure made the arrests (Tuesday) night following the City Council meeting,” Laduron said. He said the case was solved through the solid determination of his officers.

“Some worked their regular shift then came back on their own time to work this case,” he said.

The three juveniles were picked up and questioned, during which time they confessed to the crimes, Laduron said.

“We recovered some of the jewelry taken from T&D, but we probably won’t ever recover the cash,” he said.

The three juveniles were taken to the juvenile detention center, where they remain until a hearing determines whether they can be released.
