Gutshall arrested on theft charges

After a short investigation Stephen Lee Gutshall, 30, of Demopolis was taken into custody by Demopolis Police Tuesday.

degree, turned himself in to authorities around 8 a.m. where he was held in the Marengo County Detention Center before posting $2,000 bond.

Gutshall was held for slightly over two hours and released around 11:11 a.m.

Authorities believe the amount of funds in question likey exceeds $10,000 which warrants the first degree charges.

The state of Alabama defines

first degree

theft of property as:

(a) The theft of property which exceeds two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) in value, or property of any value taken from the person of another, constitutes theft of property in the first degree.

(b) The theft of a motor vehicle, regardless of its value, constitutes theft of property in the first degree.

(c) Theft of property in the first degree is a Class B felony.

Attempts to reach Gutshall Tuesday were unsuccessful.
