Tigers take game two 8-4 to advance into third round

DEMOPOLIS – The Demopolis Tigers baseball team stole the show once again, this time taking an 8-4 victory over the Opp Bobcats in game two of the best-of-three series to advance to play Daleville in the third round of postseason play.

The Tigers will take on Daleville on Friday afternoon beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the road.

After holding a two-run, 6-4 lead, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, Demopolis plated two more runs to give themselves a comfortable four-run cushion heading into the final inning of action.

Colby Roberts (4-0) picked up the win for DHS, pitching the first 5 1/3 innings before coach James Moody turned to the Tigers closer, William Meador.

Meador came into relieve Roberts in the sixth inning with just one away and was able to successfully pitch 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up his fifth save of the season.

Leading the way offensively for Demopolis in game two of the series was G.W. Washington, who went 3-for-4, and Bart Pettus, who also went 3-for-4.

Also contributing offensively for DHS was Devin Goodwin, Clarke Kerby, and Meador with two hits each.

With the win, Demopolis moves to 25-10 on the season as they advance to play Daleville on Friday afternoon in the best-of-three series.

Game one will begin at 4:30 p.m., game two is scheduled for 7 p.m., and game three (if necessary) will be on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
