“This is a celebration we started four or five years ago,” Holder said. “We had a little gap between it, but it is going again.”

There are several reasons for the celebration. Holder said the main reason was to honor those who bring the gospel to the people of Sumter County and the listening area. It also allows them to get together for good, wholesome fun.

“We do it because it brings the gospel to the area,” Holder said. “We appreciate what they do and we have this event to honor them.”

Holder said they would do several things to show the personalities how much they truly appreciate their work. She said there would be presentations and special acts to make sure everyone has a memorable time.

“We are going to have plaques to honor them,” Holder said. “We will also have recording artists there.”

Attention is something the annual event has never had problems drawing. Overflow crowds are common when the event rolls around. Holder said they again anticipated a strong attendance with people traveling from all over Alabama and neighboring states to watch.

“It is usually packed out,” Holder said. “We plan to have people there from Birmingham, Starkville, Miss. And all over the place.”

Admission is free. All groups, choirs, soloists and minister of the gospel are welcome to participate. For more information contact Holder at (334) 392-7367 or (205) 301-9037.
