REGION-The Alabama Clean Water Partnership will hold s series of meetings beginning Monday to review and discuss the Alabama and Tombigbee River Basin Management plans.

Monday’s meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. concerning the Middle Tombigbee Subbasin. The meeting will be held at the Onsite Water Training Center on the campus of the University of West Alabama.

Tuesday, another 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. meeting will be held at the Plantation House Restaurant in Aliceville at the intersection of Highways 14 and 17 to discuss the Upper Tombigbee Subbasin.

Wednesdays meeting will follow the same time frame, but will be held at the Alfa Building in Grove Hill to discuss the Lower Alabama and Lower Tombigbee Subbasin.

Meetings will wrap up Thursday in Montgomery at the Alabama Forestry Association Building to discuss the Upper Alabama Subbasin.

Lunch will be Dutch treat at $5 per person except for the Aliceville gathering where each person will directly pay the restaurant for the food ordered.

The Alabama Clean Water Partnership is a coalition of public and private individuals, companies, organizations and governing bodies working together to protect and preserve water resources and aquatic ecosystems throughout the state.

Because of the ways in which water is used (drinking water, recreation, transportation, agricultural irrigation, aesthetics, wildlife habitat and waste removal) there are two realities that make water resource management more challenging.

The first is that there is no organization responsible for protecting all of the aspects of the states water resources. Secondly, there are many organizations responsible for certain aspects of water resource protection.

The purpose of next week’s meetings is to bring these groups together to discuss possible solutions that plague our waterways.
