GREENSBORO-A scheduled meeting of the Black Belt Action commission set for Monday July 11 in Greensboro will be delayed according to the office of Gov. Bob Riley. Due to circumstances surrounding the arrival of Dennis officials have decided to delay the meeting at least another week.
Chad Nichols, Special Projects Coordinator for Gov. Bob Riley, said the meeting was in the process of being rescheduled. Nichols said the outlook for Dennis was grim and they felt Monday would not be a suitable time for the meeting.
“It doesn’t look good right now,” Nichols said. “With Dennis coming in we felt it was best to delay the meeting and shoot for another time.”
The meeting, which had been scheduled for 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. will probably be delayed for one week. Nichols said they would like to work under a one-week delay, but would have to see which meeting time would be best for those who planned to attend.
“We aren’t sure when the meeting will be rescheduled for,” Nichols said. “We will probably shoot for the next Monday (July 18) if we can, but we will just have to see.”
The meeting will be a joint meeting between the Provider Access and Medicaid/Uninsured Subcommittees at the Hale County Board of Education in Greensboro. Both are two of the three subcommittees of the Health Committee of the Governor’s Black Belt Action Commission.
During the meeting, the subcommittees will discuss issues where the two subcommittees can work together.
