DEMOPOLIS-Remember when librarians would keep complete silence in the library? She would put her finger over her lips and make the infamous “shhh” sound. Well, things have changed a little since then.

For story time at The Demopolis Public Library, Connie McPherson, the children’s librarian, read “Today I Am A Clown.” And today, the children did get a chance to become a clown.

McPherson was in full attire as she wore a yellow, full body clown suit, clown shoes, curly rainbow wig, and make-up.

After the story, children had the opportunity to decorate extra large ties, get temporary tattoos, put on make-up, and dress up in clown clothing.

The children jumped and played in the upper area of the library as McPherson and parents decked them in clown getups and make-up.

Although this program was for preschool children, older children will get a chance to become a clown today at 2 p.m.
