The Hale Empowerment and Revitalization Organization Family Resource Center will hold its second annual “Meet P.A.T.C.H.E.S. Day” from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Saturday at Lion’s Park in Greensboro.

The H.E.R.O. Family Resource Center is a non-profit organization that provides aid to residents of Hale County in the form of food donations, adult education classes, youth services and social services.

This Saturday’s event, “Meet P.A.T.C.H.E.S. Day,” is a celebration held for participants of the P.A.T.C.H.E.S. program.

P.A.T.C.H.E.S., Practicing Alternatives To Change Hale Educational Services, is a youth program that works on a five track system. Hale County students in grades seven through eleven participate from August until May, developing skills in leadership, conflict resolution, volunteer service, community involvement and youth project work.

“Meet P.A.T.C.H.E.S. Day” will be a picnic celebration for program participants, said Marquilla Ryans, youth services manager for H.E.R.O. It is also an opportunity to welcome new participants and offer more about the program. There will be games and prizes, as well.

The P.A.T.C.H.E.S. program is open to all Hale County students in grades seven through eleven. H.E.R.O. also offers students a summer enrichment program that reiterates the material covered throughout the school year.
