DEMOPOLIS-Evangelist Ed Lacy is in town this week for an unforgettable revival at Fairhaven Baptist Church.

Lacy began his first Demopolis revival with a Sunday service and will preach and sing every afternoon through Wednesday.

The services will begin at 7 p.m. at Fairhaven Baptist Church on Highway 80 in Demopolis with a noon lunch service today.

Lacy, a former drummer for such bands as Blue Oyster in the 1980s, said he will tell his testimony Wednesday night.

“I used to be agnostic,” he said. “My wife had converted to Christ and I was living with a changed woman for two years.”

He said after being out late one night, he came home and experienced something that made him realize he was lost.

“I was watching the T.V. preacher and I realized I was lost,” he said.

Lacy said it was a televised sermon that brought him to God, and three years later the same God called him to preach.

Since that day over twenty years ago, Lacy has lived his life in Christ and has taken his evangelism abroad.

Lacy is one of the few ministers allowed into Cuba and has made the journey 17 times.

“It is awesome,” Lacy said about the opportunity to work with 90 young Cuban pastors and “church-planters” to teach them the truths of “Christ-Centered Evangelism.”

Pastor Allen Atkins said in order to hear the entire story in detail, residents must attend the revival Wednesday night.

“We want as many people as possible to be there Wednesday night,” Atkins said. “I want them to see how God changed him.”

Atkins said people with drug or alcohol problems, or who know people with such problems, need to hear Lacy’s story.

“They need to hear Ed’s testimony,” Atkins said. “He is living proof that only God can deliver you.”

The revival is open to everyone. Both Atkins and Lacy said attendees will hear the truth.

“America needs a revival and Christians need an awakening,” Atkins said.
