Dr. Henry Krabbendam and Rev. Wesley Holland will share their experience and knowledge of evangelism Friday through Sunday at the Evangelism Emphasis Conference at the First Presbyterian Church of Demopolis.

Doug McNutt, an intern working with the church, invited both men to participate in the conference. McNutt previously worked with Krabbendam at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga., and with Holland at New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Aiken, S.C.

Krabbendam is a professor at Covenant College and an affiliate of the African Christian Training Institute. He will give discuss topics on evangelism in four sessions throughout the weekend, and will also preach during worship service at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

His sessions will take place on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m., from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

In Aiken, Holland is assistant pastor of New Covenant Presbyterian Church. McNutt helped Holland organize a similar conference at New Covenant during his time there. Holland said he is “returning the favor” to McNutt.

Holland will speak twice during the weekend. His first presentation will take place during the Saturday night festivities. The night will include barbecue, live music and testimonials. His talk will be based on scripture from John 3:16. On Sunday night, Holland will speak from Revelations 22: 1-4 on the power of the Spirit for the church

Holland said he was raised in the church, but he went through a period of feeling lost. His interest in pastorship and evangelism, he said, sprang from coming to know Jesus again while in college.

“Ever since then, I wanted to tell others about His love for sinners,” Holland said.

Over the course of the weekend, Holland and Krabbendam will spend their days going door to door throughout the community.

“You can really sense that people appreciate that we love them enough to step outside of our comfort zones to tell them about God’s love,” Holland said.
