DEMOPOLIS – Millions of people have joined the fight, the fight against cancer. Many have done so by participating in Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society’s team event to fight cancer. The event will return to Marengo County on May 12, 2006. A kick-off planned for November 17 will officially get the new Relay season underway.
Relay For Life is the largest cancer fund in the nation. Held in more than 4,200 communities nationwide last year, the event brings participants together to raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient support programs.
The 2005 Relay For Life in Marengo County was a successful event, raising $55,900 for the American Cancer Society. “We’re excited about our plans for 2006 and look forward to having new teams and participants join us,” said Cindy Hansard, event chair. “This kick off is just the beginning of great things to come.”
The public is invited to learn more about Relay For Life, at the kick off on November 17th at Smokin Jack’s in Demopolis. The kick off starts at 6 p.m.
