Demopolis Lady Tigers win fourth, 53-39

DEMOPOLIS &045; For the second time in two weeks the Demopolis Lady Tigers beat up on the Clark County Lady Bulldogs. They ripped the Lady Bulldogs by 20 points in Grove Hill in the last meeting. Last night they beat them again, 53-39.

The Demopolis defense turned it on in the first half. They held Clarke County without a field goal in the first half.

The Lady Tigers recorded a shut out in the first quarter. The defense did not allow the Lady Bulldogs to get into the lane and led 9-0 after one quarter.

The Demopolis offense pulled away to a double-digit lead early in the second quarter. They led 19-4 with 2:16 left in the first half and went into half time up 21-6.

Both offenses stepped up in the third quarter. Senior Kiara Plaskett dominated inside swatting shots and grabbing rebounds on defense and getting fed for easy baskets on the offense. Demopolis held a 40-24 lead after three quarters of play. &8220;We were a little lax in the third quarter,&8221; Pittman said. &8220;We allowed them to get into a rhythm and some of their shots started to fall.&8221;

Clarke County never got ant closer than 14 points the rest of the way. Plaskett led the Lady Tigers with 17 points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots, and four steals. Jasmine Hardy and Loreal More added nine points each.

The Lady Tigers will host Dallas County in a area contest on Friday.
