LINDEN &045; An employee at Linden Lumber Co. died in an accident while working at the plant yesterday afternoon.

Marengo County Coroner Stuart Eatmon said that Ronny Pritchett fell through the roof of the flooring plant at the facility yesterday.

Eatmon said that Pritchett did not have on a safety harness while he was on the roof and that he wasn’t tied off to anything. He said that Pritchett stepped backwards and fell through a hole on the roof headfirst.

Eatmon said that the accident occurred around 1 p.m. and that he pronounced Pritchett dead at 1:30 p.m. He said that no one else was injured in the accident.

A representative of Linden Lumber Co. said that they had contacted OSHA about the accident and that they could not comment further.

Eatmon said that O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Homes will be in charge of the funeral arrangements. At press time, the family had not met with the funeral director to make arrangements for the funeral.
